Partnering with communities to create opportunity
Support for the Creative Arts
The Sparks Foundation believes that creativity is an essential component to critical thinking and problem solving. We hope to inspire the youth of Santiago Atitlan to become agents of change for their community and to explore creative solutions to daily challenges.
We support art classes in our partnering schools. Children are exposed to techniques such as oil pastel, collage, watercolor and perspective via visits from trained art teachers. In addition, we provide funding for instruments and music classes in our schools.
This year, The Sparks Foundation partnered with Chumbala Cachumbala, a Guatemalan puppet theater troupe to train 12 local teens from Santiago Atitlan in puppet-show production from start to finish.
