Panul School
The Sparks Foundation partnership with Panul School resulted in a program unique to specific needs of the community.
We created a band! While bands existed in some other schools in this area, Panul had neither funds to put towards instruments, nor did they have a teacher capable of teaching music. The Sparks Foundation supplied drums, percussion instruments and liras so that 25 students could participate at any time.
We also hired a wonderful and dedicated music teacher. This band participates in local festivities, parades, and competitions. All kids receive a chance to participate throughout their school careers. It is a great source of pride for the school, and educators know that introducing music into the curriculum benefits learning in other academic areas.
